About Padraig Dooley

Padraig Dooley is the Chief Labour Inspector and Director of the Information, Inspection and Enforcement Division at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC). The aim of the division is to achieve a culture of compliance with basic employment standards.

The Division comprises of two distinct areas. The Information and Customer Services Unit provide information on employment rights, employment permits, industrial relations and employment equality matters. The Inspection and Enforcement Unit carry out inspections to monitor compliance with labour and employment permits laws.

Previously, Padraig was the Deputy Director at the National Employment Rights Authority (NERA). He was also a member of the Workplace Relations Programme Delivery Group which was responsible for the implementation of the Government’s Workplace Relations reform programme.

Padraig works closely with other agencies on areas of mutual interest, such as labour exploitation, domestic workers’ employment rights and the prevention and deterrence of undeclared work. He also trains Labour Inspectorates from other countries under the Mutual Assistance and training programmes of the EU and the International Labour Organisation
