About Nicola Connery
Nicola Connery was educated at Lurgan College and the Queen’s University Belfast, where she achieved a BA (Hons) degree in Geography, before later completing an MA in Education and the Professional Qualification of Headship. She initially taught Geography for eight years in Antrim Grammar School, before assuming a number of senior leadership roles – including Head of Department and Senior Teacher in Victoria College, Belfast. She was appointed Principal of Strathearn School in 2017, where she is responsible for the School’s team of over 100 teaching and nonteaching staff and 950 pupils. Strathearn has been consistently ranked as the top girls’ grammar school in Northern Ireland by The Sunday Times and excels across a wide range of academic and extra-curricular indicators. As Principal, Nicola is passionate about developing the whole person and ensuring that pupils can avail of every opportunity to allow them to progress in their chosen careers. She has been a member of the ASCL Northern Ireland Executive since 2018.
She lives in Belfast with her husband, David, and two sons.
