Deirdre Crowley is a partner in the Employment Law, Technology and Innovation Groups in Matheson. Since the beginning of the Covid-19 emergency, Deirdre is focused on assisting and advising clients to manage employer liability issues that span a range of legal disciplines from employment law through to health and safety, to data protection and litigation. Issues such as disciplinary and performance matters during Covid, how to manage organisational change in a remote environment, as well as how to implement HSA protocols and risk manage Covid in specific work environments is an ongoing key focus. Deirdre advises leading multinationals and indigenous Irish businesses on how to manage high risk data in the context of Covid-19. Deirdre also works closely with Matheson’s Digital Services Group to advise on thorough and cost effective data searches to deal with DSARs and discovery matters in the employment context. A highly sought after speaker, today Deirdre will walk us through the key legal issues to bear in mind when dealing with employer liability issues during a global pandemic.
In her day to day practice, Deirdre advises on all aspects of employment, equality and industrial relations law. Appearing regularly before the Workplace Relations Commission, the Courts and the Data Protection Commission on behalf of clients, Deirdre is an experienced, robust and practical advocate. In recent years, Deirdre developed a niche practice in the areas of employment and data protection with particular experience in dealing with contentious data subject access requests, employment related privacy data breaches, regulatory investigations by the Data Protection Commission and enforcement actions involving criminal sanctions in the data protection space.
