About David Johnston
Born in England to a Jamaican father and Northern Irish mother, David is married with three young children and a dog. Having a keen interest in caravanning, he can sometimes be located in locations as remote as Tralee and Clifden in Ireland, Llandudno in Wales and St Ives in England.
A Human Resources professional for over 24 years, and interested in equality and diversity matters, most of his career has seen him working in complex and high profile public service organisations, including: Inland Revenue, Police Ombudsman’s office, Northern Ireland Tourist Board, and the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
Having first been introduced to the world of Human Resources carrying out a recruitment role in the early 1990’s, he has since held a number of HR Generalist portfolios within each organisation. More recently, however, he has been assigned the role of HR Strategic Lead for Attendance, Wellbeing and Diversity within the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
In addition to the topic of equality and diversity, another area of academic and professional interest is ‘The Psychological Contract’. In addition to his full-time role, he is a part-time lecturer, a qualified leadership coach and mentor, and holds a Master’s degree in HRM.
