Our friends at the Law School at Ulster University are offering a short course on Advanced Advocacy, led by a former advocate from the US and a former Lord Justice of Appeal in Northern Ireland.
This course, lasting 6 weeks, will provide inexperienced advocates the opportunity to hone their oral and written advocacy skills through a series of practical exercises that will be observed, videotaped, and critiqued.
The course will be based on advocacy exercises with an emphasis on cross-examination, courtroom skills and persuasive oral and written argument. The class is intended to provide an enjoyable and stimulating opportunity to enhance advocacy skills while gaining essential CPD points.
The course will be taught by Martin Blake, a former barrister and current attorney at law who, for sixteen years, taught advanced advocacy at Hasting College of the Law, San Francisco. He will be assisted by Sir Paul Girvan, former Lord Justice of Appeal in Northern Ireland.
