EU Nationals and Brexit: Retention and Recruitment Solutions

EU Nationals and Brexit: Retention and Recruitment Solutions

With the UK still currently set to leave the European Union at 11.00pm on 29th March 2019, free movement as we know it will come to an end.  New rules will be in place to determine how permission to work is acquired and, with the exception of Irish citizens, EU citizens who currently live in Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK, will need to apply for the right to stay.

This update explains the new immigration requirements in detail, together with aspects of the future system not yet decided but currently under consideration.

A senior official from UK Visas and Immigration will introduce the EU Settlement Scheme Employer Toolkit to attendees, explaining in detail how employers may communicate the requirements to employees and assist them in making applications.

Lisa Bryson and Simon Kenny of Eversheds Sutherland will draw on their client experiences of working with employers and universities to mitigate the skill gap risks associated with Brexit.
