    Rolanda Markey joined the Learning and Development team at Legal Island in March 2019.  Prior to that she worked for the Labour Relations Agency in Belfast for 17 years as an Employment Relations Officer working in both Advisory (good practice) Services and Dispute Resolution.  Before joining the Labour Relations Agency, she worked in Human Resources in a range of public and private sector organisations.  She is a Chartered Member of the CIPD and has an MSc in Occupational Psychology.

    Claire is a Solicitor, practising as part of the firm’s Employment team. She has extensive experience advising clients in the private and public sector on contentious and non-contentious employment law matters, including claims for unfair dismissal, equality and discrimination claims, personal injuries, redundancy and fixed-term legislation. She also provides advice on grievances, bullying and harassment investigations, and disciplinary and performance issues.

    Claire also has a keen interest in alternative dispute resolutions and has gained vast practical experience of settlement negotiations and mediations.

    She is a member of the Employment Law Association of Ireland and Irish Women Lawyers’ Association. She also contributes to Legal Island’s publication service.

    Alan is a Solicitor, practising as part of the Employment team. Alan represents employers of all sizes and across all industries, advising on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious employment relation matters.

    On the contentious side, Alan has acted in the defence of claims in employment-related proceedings and industrial relations matters in both the Workplace Relations Commission and the Labour Court and understands the critical importance of adopting a pragmatic and commercially sensible approach to defending these type of claims.

    Alan has advised on redundancies, disciplinaries, grievances and wrongful and unfair dismissals. He has experience reviewing contracts of employment, company policies and procedures, employment related due diligence and has also negotiated severance agreements.

    Alan is a regular contributor to the Legal Island’s email service.
