About John Stevenson
John Stevenson, former Head of Sullivan Upper School, Holywood is now a freelance education consultant and author of The Head’s Survival Guide. John regularly contributes to education seminars and conferences throughout the island of Ireland. His book ‘Moving Up!’ is a guide for parents to help them and their children successfully cope with the transition from Primary to Secondary school. This widely praised volume has been published in separate versions for the school systems in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. A version of ‘Moving Up!’ written for the school systems of England and Wales is due for publication later this year. John received much media attention as ‘Rory McIlroy’s old school principal’ when Rory won the US Open to which he responds by saying ‘Less of the old!.’
