As a general rule you are entitled to take a much tougher approach to drug abuse as opposed to alcohol abuse. The use of drugs at a work-related social event will justify disciplinary action, in appropriate cases including dismissal. As mentioned above, remember to follow a fair procedure and comply with the statutory disciplinary procedures. You should also bear in mind that you may commit a criminal offence if you know that illegal drugs are being used or distributed on your premises and do not take steps to prevent it.
