Last week John Philpott, Chief Economic Adviser, CIPD, gave a lecture entitled "Rethinking the Way We Work" at a meeting held to mark the launch of the Labour Relations Agency's annual report for 2010/11.


Our understanding is that the LRA annual report has to wait for the Audit Commission to approve it before it is allowed to be put online, although hard copies were give to delegates at the meeting and it certainly makes for interesting reading. 


John pointed out that he was speaking in a personal capacity and what he said does not necessarily represent the view of the CIPD. The speech covered issues of the economy and disengagement in the workplace, for example:
