1. Introduction

Professor Ragnar E Löfstedt was commissioned by the coalition Government to produce a review of Great Britain’s current health and safety law. His review entitled "Reclaiming health and safety for all: An independent review of health and safety legislation" was published in October and has since been accepted by The Government.

Although this does not currently apply to Northern Ireland, the HSE NI often follows the same course of action as its British colleagues, so it worth noting some of the main recommendations.
