FR- More than 10% of professional drivers injured at work each year

The French Transport Ministry published the findings of a survey on professional drivers’ working conditions over the period 2006-2008 in February based on data collected through face to face and telephone interviews.

More than one in ten drivers had suffered a work injury (12% in 2006 and 11% in 2007 and 2008), with couriers being more accident-prone than other types of driver (18% in 2006, 17% in 2007 and 13% in 2008). The accident rate among "long haul" drivers is around 9%.

2% of drivers reported that the accident had resulted in sick leave in 2007 and 2008. Eighty percent of accidents occur when vehicles are being loaded and unloaded.
