Biography:

Stephen studied Law in Portobello College, Dublin obtaining an honours degree and went on to complete the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice in the University of Wales, Cardiff. In 2002 he represented the Northern Ireland Law Society in the Louis M Brown International Client Consultation Competition at the University of Natal, Durban, South Africa where was a semi-finalist, competing against lawyers from 21 other countries. He went on to qualify as a solicitor in Northern Ireland at Queens University’s Institute of Professional Legal Studies. In his early career he specialised in Defence Litigation and major incident investigations.

Stephen joined John Ross and Son, Solicitors in 2008 and runs the firms Employment Law Clinic, specializing in this area of law. He regularly advises employers and employees on all aspects of Employment Law and offers representation in Tribunals and a broad range of client focused Employment Law services for employers and employees. He also specializes in Personal Injury Law, contentious Probate matters, Professional Conduct Hearings, Judicial Review, Human Rights Law, Inquests, Medical Negligence and Criminal Law. He regularly speaks at Employment Law Seminars for training organizations. He has been involved in several high profile cases which have set new law. 

Stephen is a member of the Northern Ireland Employment Lawyers Group. In 2010 Stephen was awarded the Certificate of Advanced Advocacy from the Law Society of Northern Ireland in association with the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, Boulder, Colorado. In 2011 Stephen was successfully appointed to the Labour Relations Agency’s Dispute Resolution Service panel of Arbitrators and Independent Appeal Chairmen.
