Useful Bodies in Britain & Northern Ireland
| Department for Employment & Learning - a web site from the NI sister department of DBERR packed with useful information relevant to the world of work in Northern Ireland. It is the website that contains the Employment Rights Booklet series, amongst many other things in relation to employment rights and responsibilities in NI |
| DBERR - a site packed full of material likely to assist those with a query relating to employment law. The usual provisos apply - the information may or may not strictly apply to the situation in Northern Ireland. |
|
Labour Relations Agency - a useful web site containing information on the activities of the LRA. The section on employment legislation is particularly useful. it contains summaries and links to online (and updated) versions of NI employment legislation. Strongly recommended for those wishing to know the latest situation relating to employment legislation in this jurisdiction.
| Acas - lots of useful guidance and online training modules from the GB equivalent of the NI Labour Relations Agency |
|
Information Commissioner's Office - For Data Protection and Freedom of Information advice and templates
| OFMDFM - the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister which retains responsibility for matters such as equality laws. There is a fair amount on the website about the single equality bill, which stalled during the Assembly's quiet years. |
ECNI - The main equality law site in Northern Ireland is, of course, that of the Equality Commission. It has a huge amount of information on it about all of the equality jurisdictions and, whilst NI does not have a single equality act, it does have a single equality body in the ECNI. The site includes summary documents of settlements effected via the Commission.
| EHRC - The Equality & Human Rights Commission is the single equality body in GB. Absolutely filled with research documents and other information, including an excellent news bar on equality cases culled from the press. |
